Italian Marble Figure Of Moses. 19th Century. Signed Cirvo. After Michelangelo’s in 1513-1516. Moses is seated holding the ten commandments with rays of light shaped as horns are part of Michelangelo’s depiction of betrayal of his followers.

The Banquet Of Aeneas And Dido 17th Century. Woven at the Royal Factory at Aubusson.
Provenance- Chateau De Cieurac. Built in 1480AD by the Family De Cardaillac.

The Story - In the temple hall, the banquet of Aeneas (The son of Venus) and Dido (The queen of Carthage) is held in honour of the Trojans. Here Cupid is sent by Venus (The goddess of love) disguised as Ascanius (The son of Aeneas). As Aeneas tells his tale of the fall of Troy, Dido falls madly in love.

The tapestry is woven with wool and silk.

Condition - In an excellent state of conservation for its age. Colours are vibrant throughout. Also retaining its original border. C.1680.
